New Owner Care Guide
Congratulations on your new family member! Here's everything you need to know to give them the best start in their new home.
Before Bringing Your Animal Home
Make sure you have the following supplies ready:
- High-quality food (we will provide brand recommendations)
- Food and water bowls. Water fountains are the best source of water
- Appropriate bedding or crate
- Toys for enrichment
- Grooming supplies
Feeding
- We will provide you with a sample of the food your animal is currently eating
- Transition to any new food gradually over 7-10 days
- Feed according to the schedule and portions we recommend
- Fresh water should always be available
First Veterinary Visit
- Schedule a vet visit within 72 hours of bringing your animal home
- Bring all health records we provide
- Discuss a vaccination and wellness schedule with your vet
Grooming
- Regular grooming keeps your animal healthy and comfortable
- We will provide specific grooming recommendations for the breed
- Start grooming routines early so your animal gets comfortable with the process
Socialization & Training
- Expose your new companion to different people, sounds, and experiences
- Begin basic training early using positive reinforcement
- Be patient — adjustment to a new home takes time
